Backstory

Spring break 2022! Interesting enough we have never done a beach trip for spring break like most Floridians. My wife is a teacher and was off for the week, also my kids LOVE the beach. They get that from their dad, lol. So we booked a spring break trip for a couple of days at nearby Melbourne Beach on the East Coast of Florida.

Melbourne Beach is only an hour away from us and not nearly as crowded as the more popular beaches. One of the things we enjoy most about this beach is the sound of the waves. We love opening the balcony door and hearing the waves all day, truly relaxing even with a 2 and 4 year old running around. Funny thing is, ours kids have begun to enjoy beachfront vacations just as much as us. SMH.

Hotel Review

Valet: No valet, self park. We were always able to find a decent spot not too far from the front doors.

Check in: We booked online and we are reward members, so our information is already on file. Front desk employees are always pleasant and very accommodating which made check in a breeze.

Room: Rooms are actually pretty decent for this price point and on the beach with a balcony during peak season. We have stayed in the high floor 1 bedroom suite for $309 and the family suite with bunk beds for $347. It’s not a luxury resort so the rooms are basically like business class but the coastal view and access to the beach make this location great.

All rooms are beach front with a balcony. When you walk into your room you see the beach directly in front of you. To the left is the hallway to the bathroom and if you have a family suite the kids bunk beds sit in a little nook area in that hallways. If you have a one bedroom suite the wet area is in that hallway instead of bunk beds. To your right is a business desk and chair. The living room is open and has a floor to ceiling sliding glass door that leads to the balcony. The bedroom has a king size bed and ottoman. The bedroom also as a sliding glass door that leads out the balcony but in some rooms that door is locked and a door stopper installed.

Now let’s talk about the beach view, awesome! My wife Amy I didn’t get to spend any quiet time

Beach: The beach was great! It’s the perfect dose of vitamin sea. It doesn’t have the white sand of the gulf coast beaches but it satisfies your desire if your craving some time on the beach and the sounds of the waves. The beach is not normally crowded so you’ll have space to set up you tent and towels or spread out for beach games if you are with a group. The beach is also dog friendly, so you’ll see people walking and running with their dogs.

Pool: The pool is an average hotel pool but if you are looking to catch some sun away from the beach this will work for you. They have a spacious sun deck for the sun bathers.

Check out: As my daughter would say “Easy peasy lemon squeezee!” lol. One thing to note, check out is at noon, which is later than many other hotels and allows you to sleep late or get one final beach trip in.

Conclusion: This is a great beach getaway for the price point. We’ve been here multiple times and it is now our favorite quick beach getaway, replacing Daytona Beach. It may not have all the bells and whistles of a resort on the beach but it has primary things you want from beach location lodging.
